Rakesh Roshan announces retirement from directing films, says “Don’t think will direct anymore, will announce ‘Krrish 4’ very soon”

Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, known for his significant contributions to Bollywood has now announced his retirement from directing. This news comes as he prepares for the re-release of his iconic film ‘Karan Arjun’. Roshan has also stirred excitement among fans by hinting at an upcoming announcement regarding ‘Krrish 4’, the next installment in his beloved superhero franchise.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rakesh Roshan confirmed that he will no longer take on directing roles, although he will continue to produce films. He stated, “I don’t think I’ll be directing anymore. But I will be announcing ‘Krrish 4’ very soon.” This announcement has left fans eagerly anticipating more details about the film, which will star his son Hrithik Roshan in the lead role.

The ‘Krrish’ franchise began with the release of the sci-fi film ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ in 2003, which introduced audiences to the character Rohit Mehra and his superhuman son Krishna, also known as Krrish. The franchise expanded with ‘Krrish’ in 2006 and continued with ‘Krrish 3’ in 2013. Throughout these films, Hrithik Roshan has portrayed both Rohit and Krishna, captivating audiences with his performances.

Earlier this year, director Siddharth Anand, who has previously worked with Hrithik on films like ‘Bang Bang’ and ‘War’, shared a fan’s image of Hrithik in his Krrish costume on social media. The post included the caption, “He’s coming back,” further fueling speculation about the future of the franchise.

Interestingly, Rakesh Roshan has also reflected on past casting choices within the series. He had initially envisioned Ajay Devgn for the role of Kaal, the antagonist in ‘Krrish 3’. However, Devgn declined the offer due to concerns about playing a villain opposite another hero. In an interview with News18, Rakesh recalled their conversation: “He said the story is very good and the screenplay is very good but ‘Rakesh ji mere liye ye karna thoda mushkil hoga kyunki main bhi hero hoon. Mujhe end mein maare, acha nahi lagega. Aur aap toh compromise karenge nahi.’”

Rakesh Roshan’s decision to step away from directing marks a significant shift in his career. His legacy as a filmmaker includes not only the successful ‘Krrish’ series but also other notable films that have left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.
