What is hot?
Srikanth Bolla is an inspiration and the movie is all about that. Rajkummar Rao plays Srikanth and he has delivered his most heartfelt performance. Rajkummar proves that he is here to win you over with his honest act. Not once you feel that the actor is not visually challenged. From his mannerisms to complex emotions that he portrays, Rajkummar Rao is just fantastic. The credit does goes to the director to have got the perfect personalities to play pivotal roles. Jyotika as Devika is just too good. Her simplicity is beautiful and she has strong screen presence. Sharad Kelkar as Ravi brings his A-game to Srikanth. Alaya F plays Swathi who is in love with Srikanth and they do have their moments that make you smile.
From the first scene itself, Srikanth movie makes fans believe that it will be an enjoyable ride as well as a dramatic. The first half of the film is all about how Srikanth’s father was adviced to kill him when he was born, to him being bullied in school, his struggle to study science as he wanted to and more. It comes with a touch of humour. The second half of the film is about the rise of Bollant Industries. The film touches upon the every important aspect of Srikanth’s life making it an emotional journey for fans. Talking about the background score, it fits rightly in the mood with Papa Kehte Hain song making you feel good witnessing Srikanth’s story. The narration of the film is kept as such that it would NOT make you feel pity for the lead character, rather leave you eager to know Srikanth deals with all the challenges with great resilience.
What’s not?
The second half of the movie that narrates the story of Srikanth Bolla becoming a businessman is weak and fails to establish a connect with the audience. The story has its highs and lows but there are moments that do not actually fit in well because of the preachy dialogues and lose screenplay. Rajkummar Rao and Jyotika are GOLD when it comes to acting but after a point the it all gets monotonous and falls flat.
Verdict:
Srikanth is a good film to watch to seek some inspiration and change the way one looks at the specially abled people. They aren’t different!
