Srikanth BOC Day 1: Despite positive reviews, Rajkummar Rao’s touching biopic failed to mint numbers on the opening day.
Rajkummar Rao‘s Srikanth has finally hit the theatres on May 10, 2024. Directed by Tushar Hiranandani, the film has gotten excellent reviews but failed to perform at the box office. The movie started off with a slow start, opening with Rs 2.25 crores. However, both critics and audiences praised the performances, particularly Rajkummar Rao’s portrayal, calling it award-worthy.
As per early estimates, the film earned Rs 2.25 c crores on its opening day. In the morning, approximately 11.56% of theatres seats were filled with eager moviegoers. However, in afternoon, the film lost its grip and there was a slight dip in occupancy, with 10.11% of seats occupied. In Mumbai, where there were 484 shows, the occupancy stood at 13.25 percent. In Delhi and NCR with 763 shows, the occupancy witnessed was 12 percent.
Compared to the recent releases, like Vidya Balan and Pratik Gandhi starrer Do Aur Do Pyaar and Dibaker Banerjee’s LSD2, the film has had a strong start at the box office.
Rajkummar Rao starrer is the biopic of Srikanth Bolla, the founder of Bollant Industries. Srikanth’s story is indeed noteworthy as he battled all odds despite being visually challenged. It is a touching tale of a man who despite his physical impairment, chose to believe in himself and not doubt his potential. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar of T-Series, the film also stars Jyothika, Alaya F and Sharad Kelkar in pivotal roles.
