Raj Thackeray issues stern warning to theatre owners in Maharashtra over screening of Fawad Khan’s film

Pakistani film The Legend of Maula Jatt is slated to release in India. The film’s actual release date is 13 October 2022. It stars Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan in leading roles. However, due to ban on Pakistani artists and films in India, The Legend Of Maula Jatt could not hit the theatres in the country two years ago. Even though it did well at the global box office, the Indian audience could not see it as the film is not even on OTT yet. However, recently, there was an announcement that The Legend of Maula Jatt is releasing in India on October 2. But it is only releasing in Punjab. Now, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray has issued a stern warning to all the theatre owners in Maharashtra to not screen Fawad Khan’s movie. On X (formerly known as Twitter), MNS Chief Raj Thackeray penned a lengthy note in Marathi stating that the political party will not allow the release of The Legend Of Maula Jatt starring Fawad Khan in Maharashtra. And those screening the film should be ready to bear the consequences. He also wrote that the Navratri celebrations are going to begin and the party does not want to create any conflict in the state, thus the release of the film should be stalled. A part of his tweet read, “And art knows no national boundaries, that’s fine in other cases, but in Pakistan it won’t work at all. What kind of action is being taken to bring artists from a country that is divided on the single issue of hatred of India, to dance and screen their films?
