KWAZULU-NATAL WEATHER FORECAST
The weather service said widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected over most parts of the province on Monday, but scattered to isolated in the north except the extreme north-eastern parts.
“Some of these thunderstorms may become severe over the southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal and may be accompanied by strong damaging winds, excessive lightning, large hail or large amounts of small and heavy downpours,” the weather service said.
SAWS said the severe thunderstorms could result in damage or loss of infrastructure, settlements and major travel disruptions and disruptions of municipal and other essential service over the southern and central parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
The yellow level 4 impact-based warning for severe thunderstorms comes as the weather service had issued an advisory for heatwave conditions in seven provinces at the weekend.
The weather service said a heatwave is expected to affect Gauteng, Limpopo, Free State, North West, Mpumalanga, as well as north-eastern areas of Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday, 2 November until Monday, 4 November as mentioned above.
“Hot to very hot conditions are expected across these provinces with temperatures expected to exceed 40°C in the Lowveld areas, the Limpopo Valley and Western Bushveld,” the weather service said.
