Rahul Gandhi explains BJP’s ‘ek hai to safe hai’ slogan, targets PM Modi, Gautam Adani

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday dissected the Bharatiya Janata Party’s slogan, ‘Ek hai to safe hai,’ stating that “ek” refers to the Prime Minister and his close circle, including Amit Shah. He claimed that under their leadership, only industrialist Gautam Adani is secure, while the people of Dharavi remain neglected.

Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai ahead of the November 20, 2024, Maharashtra Assembly election, Gandhi made several key pledges. He announced, “We will remove the 50 per cent cap on reservations,” emphasizing this as a core commitment of the Congress party.

Gandhi described the upcoming election as a “battle of ideologies” between the wealthy elite and the underprivileged. He underscored the importance of a caste census, calling it the “biggest issue before us” and a “central pillar” of the party’s policy agenda.

Addressing the Dharavi redevelopment project, Gandhi remarked, “Whatever Adani wants, he gets it,” signaling concerns over corporate favoritism. He further criticized the transfer of mega projects worth Rs 7 lakh crore, such as Foxconn and Airbus, to Gujarat, which he said deprived Maharashtra’s youth of job opportunities.
