THE discovery of a burnt-out vehicle is not a daily occurrence. What is more rare is when the remains of a deceased person are found within them. As such, any such news tends to go viral rather rapidly.
Recently, news broke online that the remains of a man were found in a burnt car in Tapah, Perak.
Is this true?

TRUE
This is, in fact, true, and it was confirmed by Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations centre officer-in-charge Saiful Rizan Sulaiman.
He said that the remains of a man were found inside a burnt car at Batu 23, Jalan Pahang in Tapah and added that he was found after the fire was put out on Monday (Jan 1) night.
Saiful Rizal said the man is believed to be an Orang Asli in his 50s.
“We received a call at about 10.05pm and reached the location at about 11.10pm. The public had already put out the fire before our firemen reached the location,” he said in a statement.
Saiful Rizal added that the car was about 50% burnt and said the operation ended at about 11.35pm.
“The car was found parked at the location, and the victim was located in the back seat of the vehicle,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tapah OCPD Supt Mohd Naim Asnawi said the case is currently being investigated as a sudden death.
“We are waiting for the post-mortem report on Wednesday (Jan 3) to know the cause of death,” he said.
