To generate excitement, the producers unveiled a teaser featuring a highly anticipated jatara scene on Allu Arjun’s birthday. In the teaser, Allu’s character Pushpa Raj is depicted wearing a traditional pattu blue saree adorned with body paint, along with earrings, necklaces, bangles, nose pin, anklets, and other accessories. The scene shows him dressed in the attire of Mathangi for the Gangamma Thalli festival in Tirupati.
Media report speculates that the filmmakers behind the movie shelled out a whopping Rs 60 crore to shoot a single scene lasting only six minutes. The report further claims the scene took a full month to film. Officials from the production remained tight-lipped about the exact cost. A source close to the film, however, told Hindustan Times, “Let’s just say it was a very elaborate set-piece that demanded a significant investment to create the chaos. The scene is integral to the plot, and the crew went all out to get it right. In fact, Allu Arjun even pushed through severe back pain to complete his part (sic).”
Reports indicate negotiations for the sequel’s digital rights were steeper than the first part. While Amazon Prime Video secured the OTT rights for Pushpa: The Rise for ₹30 crore, Pushpa 2’s makers reportedly sought a significantly higher price from Netflix India. News outlets suggest the figure could be around ₹100 crore, and director Sukumar might even receive a share of the OTT deal. Netflix itself confirmed Pushpa 2 as part of their 2024 lineup.
