The mass entertainer of 2024, Pushpa: The Rule is the second sequel in the Pushpa franchise that has taken the box office by storm. Ever since the trailer was released, the makers had promised something extraordinary for fans and audiences, and they delivered on that promise with the film’s release on December 5, 2024. The box office rampage that followed has been nothing short of phenomenal. Starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, Pushpa 2: The Rule made a staggering debut, collecting Rs 800 crore worldwide during its opening weekend.
Pushpa 2 dominates the North American box office
Focusing on the North American region, the standout among the new releases was the Indian action film Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2, which grossed an impressive Rs 77 crore, according to a report by Box Office Mojo. Starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, the film was released across 1,245 theaters, recording an average collection of Rs 6.2 lakh per screen. The report further highlights that this Indian blockbuster was the highest-earning new release of the weekend. Reportedly, the film made a strong impact at the box office, earning an estimated Rs 12.4 crore by Day 2. On Saturday, collections reportedly rose to an estimated Rs 28.9 crore, with the film ultimately raking in Rs 77 crore by the end of its first weekend. According to early estimates by Deadline, the film was tracking an opening weekend collection of Rs 83 crore in the US.
Kalki 2898 AD still beats Pushpa 2 with these numbers
Although the collections are remarkable, Pushpa 2 still has a long way to go to surpass the likes of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, Kalki 2898 AD, and Pathaan, which currently occupy the top three spots on the list of highest-grossing Indian films in North America. Pushpa 2 now holds the title of the second-largest opening weekend of 2024 in the region, trailing only the Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD. However, on the global stage, the film has outperformed the sci-fi epic to claim the biggest opening weekend for an Indian film this year, grossing an impressive Rs 157 crore ($19+ million) in overseas markets within just four days of its release.
