Pretty beach is on London Underground and nowhere near sea | UK | Travel

Summer is nearly here and – if we get the weather – millions of us will want to head to the beach.

The pilgrimage to the seaside can be quite a trek for Londoners – but there is an alternative that’s closer than the coast. And it’s reachable via the London Underground.

If you’re yearning for some outdoor activities beyond the usual strolls in Hyde Park or deer spotting in Richmond, or if you’re simply looking to escape the city without actually leaving London, Ruislip Lido is a fantastic option.  Located at the western end of the Central line, this hidden gem is easily accessible.

A short bus ride from West Ruislip tube station will take you straight to the beach, which surprisingly isn’t a popular spot among most Londoners.  The lido offers a beautiful retreat, particularly when bathed in sunshine. It’s a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, offering the best of both worlds.

However, be warned that on exceptionally sunny days, those in the know – West Londoners – tend to flock to the beach, reports MyLondon.  The lido is open all year round as there are no gates, but there is one major drawback – swimming is not allowed due to the water’s poor quality.

Despite this, Ruislip Lido is still worth a visit for a day out. Enjoy a walk along the beach, reconnect with nature, and soak up the sun.
