Prachi Desai on Being Stereotyped
After creating her space in the hearts of the audience as Bani from ‘Kaamh Se’, Desai moved to films and starred in movies like Rock On, Once Upon Time in Mumbai, Bol Bachchan and more. Often actors are remembered for some of their iconic roles that get deeply entrenched in the minds of the audience and that makes it difficult to see them as other characters.
When asked, if it is important to break away from being put in a box and getting roles as ‘girl-next-door’, Silence 2 actor said, “It is absolutely priceless to receive that kind of love from your audience and it’s like an inheritance that you carry. However, for actors, it is very very important to not exhaust any one character for themselves and the audience.’
Prachi Desai Shares Wholesome Experience with Naga Chaitanya
Desai made her Telegu debut in Naga Chaitanya’s ‘Dhootha’ web show. Working in a language that is not native to yours can be very challenging shared Prachi. ‘It was very difficult working in another language but they were so understanding. It is lovely how prepared they are that you come from a different place and don’t speak the language. They are so prepared on the sets.
Praising Naga Chaitanya, she said, “When I was doing my dialogues with Naga Chaitanya and you know when the lingo is not right, it can honestly be funny. But not once did he flinch. He would just be in the scene and not flinch even if there is a mistake. Every time it was my close, my dialogues and reactions to him, he would say his dialogues in English so that I understood what he was saying. It was just really nice.”
Prachi Desai also praised Manoj Bajpayee and considers him and Abhishek Bachchan as one of the most fun co-actors.
