‘Poor thing’ – Napoli fans left feeling SORRY for new hero Scott McTominay as he ‘moves house to rough neighbourhood’

SCOTT MCTOMINAY is one of the main attractions in Napoli these days.

But fans have been sending him their APOLOGIES after a report emerged that he was moving house to a less-than-desirable neighbourhood.

McTominay, 27, moved to the Serie A club from Manchester United in the summer for a fee of £25.7m.

The transfer has been a hit with the Naples faithful who have taken the Scotland international to their hearts.

McTominay himself has been credited with sparking a transformation in new boss Antonio Conte’s tactics and his compatriot Billy Gilmour has also settled in superbly.

But tonight, Campania-based sports news wesbite Il Meridian and Napoli-focused outlet Pianata Napoli are reporting that McTominay has moved house to the Lago Patria area, on the western outskirts of the city.

McTominay and wag Cam Reading had previously been living in the city itself.

Lago Patria (Lake Patria) is an area popular with expats and Pianeta claim it is so he can be closer to the team’s training complex at Castel Volturno, northwest of Naples.

But, the neighbourhood has been described as popular with burglars and unsafe for tourists.

And indeed, many Neapolitans sent the midfielder their sympathies after seeing the news (alongside video footage of him walking down a busy street with an agent or some form of club official).

One fan said: “I offer him my deepest condolences. With so many spectacular places that Naples offers, there’s no end to it.”

Another said: “I recommend that you close the door tightly in the evening.”

A third said: “Poor thing.”

Many others simply said “I’m sorry”.

Another observed: “It’s very reminiscent of Scotland in fact,” aren’t we aren’t quite sure how to take that.

McTominay played his part as Napoli beat AC Milan 2-0 on Tuesday to solidify their status atop Serie A.

He’s now been christened McTotally by the supporters, a change form his previous nickname McSauce while at Old Trafford.

And United supporters are clearly feeling envious at seeing their former player flourish elsewhere.

One said: “Every day I am devastated and delighted that he left. Devastated because we lost him. Delighted because the rest of the world finally saw the talent that was Scott McTominay, free of the cloudy skies of agenda his own supporters ran against him. Shine on you crazy diamond.”

Another commented: “Our fans didn’t want him and now we’ve got a bottom five midfield in the Prem.”

A third said: “He always had the potential to be a top level midfielder. Glad that he is realising his potential at Napoli.”
