Poll Shows Majority Of Voters Approve Trump’s Transition – IJR

A newly released CBS News poll on Sunday showed that a majority of voters (59%) approve of how President-elect Donald Trump is handling the transition of power.

Just weeks before Election Day, rhetoric from both corporate media and Democrats intensified against Trump, with Vice President Kamala Harris calling him a fascist and President Joe Biden signaling to “lock him up” before attempting to clarify that he meant politically lock him up. However, since his win in the Electoral College and with the popular vote, it appears voters are overall excited and have high hopes for a second Trump term.

The CBS News/YouGov survey, which was conducted nationally with 2,232 U.S. adults between Nov. 19-22, shows that 50% of voters believe America’s best days are now in its future, while 39% claim they are in the past, and 11% say they are happening right now. While a majority of Republicans expressed satisfaction with Trump’s win, the combined groups showed that 31% were happy with the former president returning, 24% were satisfied, 23% were dissatisfied and 21% were angry with the results.

Throughout his campaign, Trump strongly emphasized boosting the U.S. economy, acknowledging that voters consistently listed the economy, inflation and immigration as their top concerns before heading to the polls.

However, even post-election, 25% of voters surveyed said they believe the condition of the economy is “very bad,” with 29% saying it is “fairly bad,” 31% claiming it is “fairly good” and only 11% saying it is “very good,” according to the CBS News/YouGov survey. Additionally, 44% of voters told CBS News that they believe Trump being president will make food and grocery prices go down, 35% said that they believe prices will go up and 21% claimed there will be no change.

In addition to the economy, the survey also shows that 57% of voters believe Trump should start a program to deport all illegal immigrants currently living in the U.S., with 82% saying the jobs should be carried out by immigration and Border Patrol agencies, 64% wanting federal law enforcement agencies involved, and 40% advocating for military assistance.

While Democrats have given significant pushback to Trump’s cabinet picks over the last couple of weeks, Republican voters appear to be largely satisfied with the former president’s nominations. The survey data shows that 71% of Trump voters support the selection of former Democratic Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence, with only 24% saying they hadn’t heard enough about her and just 5% believing she is not a good choice.

A majority of Trump voters also supported nominations such as Fox News personality and combat veteran Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense (64%), former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for Director of Health & Human Services (80%) and Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio for Secretary of State (75%).
