New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s global outreach in his third term is expected to begin with a 24-hour trip to Italy for the G7 summit on June 14 where he is an invitee. In subsequent months, Modi may visit Kazakhstan for the SCO summit (July 3-4), followed by BIMSTEC meet in Thailand (September), BRICS summit in Russia (October), G20 summit in Brazil (November) and a probable trip to New York in September for the UN General Assembly and Summit of Future.Modi could have meetings with US President Joe Biden and other G7 leaders including Japan, the UK and France besides hosts Italy on the sidelines of the G7 summit.
While the PM is also expected to travel to Japan later this year for the annual summit, a trip to Africa is also being planned, ET has learnt. He is also expected to hold an annual summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia.
All eyes will be on a possible structured meeting between Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the SCO summit.
Among the leaders Modi is expected to host this year include the PMs of Vietnam and Malaysia. He may also take part in the India-Asean summit and East Asia summit in Laos later this year besides the India-Germany Inter Governmental Commission which will be held here later this year.
Modi is also expected to meet several leaders on the sidelines of the various summits in Europe, Kazakhstan, Russia and Brazil. During the year, India is also expected to host leaders from the immediate and extended neighbourhood besides Europe, Africa and Latin America including Chile.A Quad summit in India later this year is also being planned.
