Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated newly sworn-in Chief Minister of Telangana Revanth Reddy and assured him of “all possible support to further the progress of the state and the welfare of its citizens.”
Revanth Reddy took oath on Thursday as the first Congress Chief Minister of Telangana after the state was carved in 2014.
He was sworn in as the Telangana CM by Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan at the L B Stadium in Hyderabad, while Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka was sworn in as his deputy. As many as 10 other ministers also took oath in the ceremony on Thursday.

Reddy’s oath taking ceremony was also attended by senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Karnataka CM D K Shivkumar.
The Congress ousted K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR)-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana after securing 64 out of the 119 seats.
In the Telangana Assembly election 2023, held on 30 November, the state saw a voter turnout of 70.60 per cent. The BRS had fielded candidates in all 119 seats but bagged only 38 seats, while the BJP won on eight seats.

The announcement of Anumula Revanth Reddy as the new chief minister of Telangana was made by the Congress on 5 December.
According to reports, 42 of 64 Congress MLAs supported Revanth Reddy for the post of the next CM of Telangana.
Who is Revanth Reddy, Telangana’s new CM?
Reddy was born on 8 November, 1969, in Kondareddypalli village of Nagarkurnool district.
The 54-year-old politician joined the Congress party in 2017 and was appointed as the TPCC chief in 2021.
He started his political career with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of RSS. In 2007, Reddy was elected as a Member of Legislative Council (MLC) as an independent candidate.
Reddy is a Lok Sabha MP and a two-time MLA. In 2009, he had represented in the Assembly of undivided Andhra Pradesh and later in Telangana Assembly in 2014.
He was also a member of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly from Kodangal constituency in 2009. However, he quit the party after his involvement in an alleged bribing scandal.
