What prize money they get
As mentioned, Zhang Anda gets £50,000 for finishing second.
It’ll be priceless to him in the long term as he adds ranking points and gets himself seeded in the Tour Championship among other things.
For Mark Allen, he scoops a cool £125,000 prize for winning. Not bad.
Champ’s reaction
Mark Allen admitted it was a ‘tough day’ despite getting over the line to claim this trophy.
He told ITV: “I’m not sure I’ve got pretty left in me!
“It’s been a really tough day and with how well Zhang’s played all week, I actually dragged him down today.
“My safety was good, it kept me in the match. That wasn’t a lot of fun to be involved in but I’m happy to come through.
“I want to keep winning and if I can get to 20 or 30 I’ll be pleased. But I’ll be gutted to not win a World Championship so it’s all geared towards that.”
Final stats
Zhang Anda scored four more points than Mark Allen today.
He had more 50+ breaks, a higher pot rate, took more shots and spent longer at the table.
He’ll learn a lot from this one though with Mark Allen getting the victory despite all that.
Zhang’s words
Zhang Anda picks up a cheque for £50,000 for finishing runner-up here.
He admitted to feeling ‘a little bit tired’ and rued a couple of big missed opportunities.
Zhang told ITV: “Thank you everyone. This week I did not bad, right?
“Today I missed important black and an important yellow.
“Mark played so well and his safety was so good.
“I felt a little bit tired. It’s been an amazing season for me and I’m just trying all that I can and hopefully next time I can do better.”
The final shot
The players shake hands after a grueling day’s work with Mark Allen victorious.
