Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg fired back at President Donald Trump after being blamed for the recent plane crash in Washington, D.C.
Sixty-seven people are feared dead after an American Airlines plane collided with a Blackhawk helicopter over the Potomac River late Wednesday. The president reacted to the news during a Thursday afternoon press conference by blaming the Biden administration for their DEI hiring practices.
Moreover, Trump specifically called out Buttigieg claiming that he ran the Department of Transportation “right into the ground” with his “bullshit.”
Buttigieg responded to Trump’s attack via a post on X, formerly Twitter — where he called the president’s remarks “despicable.”
“Despicable. As families grieve, Trump should be leading, not lying. We put safety first, drove down close calls, grew Air Traffic Control, and had zero commercial airline crash fatalities out of millions of flights on our watch,” Buttigieg wrote to his followers.

He added, “President Trump now oversees the military and the FAA. One of his first acts was to fire and suspend some of the key personnel who helped keep our skies safe. Time for the President to show actual leadership and explain what he will do to prevent this from happening again.”
