People go wild for UK beach with ‘Caribbean-like’ sand and clear water | Beach Holidays | Travel

A UK beach is making waves online for its uncanny resemblance to a Caribbean paradise.

The joy of a summer holiday often lies in lounging on a sandy beach, basking under the sun and gazing at the clear blue waters. But what if you could experience all this without stepping out of the country?

A seemingly ordinary British beach has caught the internet’s attention for looking strikingly similar to those found in the Caribbean.

With its breathtaking blue waters and golden sands, one could easily mistake it for a tropical paradise located thousands of miles away. However, this little piece of heaven is nestled right here in Cornwall.

This Cornish gem gained popularity after being featured on TikTok by @carbisbayhotelandestate, the account representing the Carbis Bay luxury estate in St Ives, Cornwall.

While the estate boasts its own private beach, the stretch of golden sand showcased in the video is open to the public. Known as Pedn Vounder beach, it is situated on the south coast of the Penwith peninsula in Cornwall.

However, potential visitors should be aware of certain factors before planning their trip to Pedn Vounder. Firstly, it’s a tidal beach, which means it disappears during high tide. Access to the beach is limited to boat or foot, with the latter involving a “challenging climb” down steep rocks.

Secondly, a trip to Pedn Vounder is not for the easily offended. While not officially a naturist hotspot the beach has become the go-to for those who prefer to sunbathe in the buff, with signs alerting visitors that “naturists may be seen beyond this point”.

Explore Cornwall warns that this idyllic spot can get “very busy” during peak summer and school holidays, advising an early visit for those looking to avoid the crowds.

They also note that due to its south-facing position and surrounding cliffs, the beach basks in glorious sunshine at midday but slips into shade by late afternoon.

And those who have visited the beach before have left glowing reviews online.

One visitor was left awestruck, leaving a Google review stating: “Totally mind-blowing. What a fabulous colour of water, totally loved it.”

Another beachgoer compared it to tropical shores, exclaiming: “The best and most amazing beach you can find in the UK. This place made us think we were in the Caribbean.”

And the praise doesn’t stop there; another satisfied visitor penned: “Beautiful beach with azure blue water, nice sand, cliffs either side and plenty of space. Water was amazing to swim in.”
