A new In-N-Out store in Idaho caused quite the stir as customers camped overnight in chilly temperatures to get their hands on a double-double.
In-N-Out opened its latest store in Meridian, Idaho, on Tuesday to a fervent crowd of Idahoans who patiently waited three years for the burger chain to debut its first Idaho outpost. Some customers took extreme measures to ensure their food orders by camping overnight at the restaurant parking lot even as temperatures dropped to 36 degrees.
“Everyone in Idaho has been waiting for In-N-Out to come … and now it’s finally happening,” Alison Moreno told KTVB-TV on Tuesday morning before the grand opening.

Those who didn’t camp out endured abnormally long wait times. According to the Idaho State Journal, customers queuing up in the drive-thru waited about three hours and up to six hours for burgers and animal-style fries. Customers on foot didn’t fare much better as a line extended to the sidewalk, forcing people to wait in line up to two hours. Nevertheless, fans of the 75-year-old chain didn’t seem to mind the delay.
According to a press release, Idaho’s first In-N-Out can seat up to 84 customers and features covered patio seating for up to 32 people. Eventually, more In-N-Out stores are headed to Idaho with future locations expected in Boise and Nampa, the Idaho Statesman reports.
In-N-Out has been on a major expansion kick after revealing its plans for more eastern locations. Months ago, In-N-Out announced that it will open multiple stores throughout Tennessee by 2026 and open an Albuquerque, New Mexico, store that is expected to debut in 2027.
