Hyderabad: Actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan made the headlines after dropping the teaser of ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’ directed by Hari Shankar. The makers of the film released the teaser on March 19, 2024. Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India has raised concerns regarding Pawan Kalyan’s cryptic sequence shown in the teaser. Is Pawan Kalyan In Trouble? Here’s What We Know
While the teaser got a positive response, the ECI has raised the issue against Pawan Kalayan’s film. As the 2024 general elections are around the corner, a code of conduct has been appealed throughout India. The main concern why the ECI had raised an issue was due to a particular scene where the actor shows a tea glass that coincided with his party symbol, Jana Sena.
There are multiple speculations that this film can be used to turn votes in favour of his party, it is also alleged that the film might be also used as a promotional tool that can manipulate the voter’s mind. The Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh, Mukesh Kumar Meena has stepped in to address the issue against Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming film.
Addressing the media, Mukesh Kumar expressed his concern stating that, ‘no actor-turned-politician can promote a specific election symbol of a political party and prior notification is to be addressed. The officer also said that it has come to his attention that Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming film has reportedly used their party symbol (a glass tea symbol) indicating the Jana Sena party’s symbol. It is noted that no actions have been taken against the teaser of ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’. He also added that further actions would be taken after reviewing strict action will be taken.
