Parliament Winter Session LIVE: After a week-long impasse, Parliament may witness a smooth state of affairs as both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are expected to take up their listed agenda items. There is, however, an ongoing internal tussle within the INDIA bloc with the TMC refusing to adhere to the opposition’s joint strategy.
Union parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju told reporters that all the parties have agreed to allow Parliament to function from Tuesday, expressing confidence that both Houses will now function smoothly.
This comes as both the BJP-led Centre and opposition parties reached an agreement on Monday (December 2) to break a week-long impasse with the dates announced for a discussion on the Constitution, to mark its 75th year of adoption.
Rijiju further said Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has made it clear that any matter can be raised in line with the rules, while requesting parties to allow smooth functioning. The opposition may raise the Sambhal violence and Manipur unrest, sources said. The Trinamool Congress (TMC), meanwhile, wants to raise the events in Bangladesh following the deposition of the Sheikh Hasina government.
