Olympics | Iraqi judoka fails doping test at Paris Olympics

PARIS, July 26 (Xinhua) — Sajjad Ghanim Sehen Sehen of Iraq has become the first athlete to fail a doping test at the Paris Olympic Games, the International Testing Agency (ITA) said here on Friday.

The ITA said the Iraqi judoka tested positive for anabolic steroids Metandienone and Boldenone after a sample was collected during an out-of-competition anti-doping control on Tuesday.

“The athlete has been informed of the case and has been provisionally suspended until the resolution of the matter in line with the World Anti-Doping Code and the IOC Anti-Doping Rules applicable to the Olympic Games Paris 2024,” said the ITA.

The International Olympic Committee has delegated anti-doping responsibilities to the ITA, who will be responsible for testing during the Games.
