Nothing OS 2.5 update rolls out for Nothing Phone (2)
Nothing announced the latest software update saying that it’s the most significant update since the launch of OS 2.0. In addition to Android 14, Nothing OS 2.5 also comes with home screen and lock screen customisations, new Atmosphere wallpaper effect, and updates to the Glyph Interface.
If you’re on the Nothing Phone (1) you can download and install the update by going to Settings > System > System Update.
Here’s a look at what’s new with the Nothing OS 2.5 update
Customisation:
- A joint home screen and lock screen customisation page has been redesigned along with improving the edit wallpaper flow so you get to see a more comprehensive view of options.
- There’s a new Atmosphere wallpaper effect that brings motion to colours on your home screen. This update also adds solid colour wallpapers, and a monochrome colour theme in the basic colour section.
Glyph Interface:
- With the latest update, you can get direct access to the Glyph Interface’s Music Visualisation feature.
- The overall Glyph light playback effect that synchronises with your device’s audio has also been improved in this update.
- Nothing has also added a new Glyph animation for when NFC is being used, and it has improved the experience of Flip to Glyph.
Gestures:
- You can now customise double-press power button to quickly access a chosen feature. There are also more lock screen shortcut options like Do Not Disturb, mute, QR code scanner, and video camera.
- This update also lets you take screenshots with a three-finger swipe gesture. There’s also a new screenshot editor and menu with more advanced editing features and quick deletions.
- The back gesture arrow visual should now look more Nothing-like.
Widgets:
- There’s a new Pedometer widget to track your daily steps from your home screen.
- Nothing OS 2.5 also adds a media player widget that displays the now playing screen. You can also change songs from this widget.
- A screen time widget to monitor and manage your daily screen time has also been added in this update.
Nothing OS 2.5 also brings a couple of changes to the Quick Settings menu. These include support for switching ring modes, setting the network without unlocking the phone, and an updated layout that shows more device icons. The overall experience of the Weather app, and notification of weather alerts have been improved as well.
Another small but important feature is the possibility to set ringtone and notification sound volumes separately now. This update also improves system stability and battery life of the Nothing Phone (1).
