Once the movie releases in Chinese theatres, it is expected to cross over Rs 700 crore at the box office. In China, it is expected to release on 40,000 screens and such great releases there usually earn $1000 and $3000 per screen. If it earns $2000 per screen, the total collection with 40,000 screens could mount up to Rs 700 crore. So which movie are we talking about? Well, it is the Tamil action drama titled Maharaja.
Directed by Nitilan Saminathan, Maharaja stars Vijay Sethupathi, Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, and Nataraja Subramanian. About the movie’s release in India, producer Sudhan Sundaram of Passion Studio stated, “The film has emotional content with an engaging screenplay that will surely enthral the Chinese crowds.”
On the other hand, Alexi Woo, a representative from Yi Shi Films, said in a statement, “We are proud to bring Maharaja to theatres in China and share the artistry of Tamil cinema with a new audience.”
