In the 70s, aside from Rajesh Khanna, there was another actor who had women queuing up for a glimpse and it was none other than Vinod Khanna. From the very start of his career, Khanna proved that he was brewing his talent. He gave numerous hits alongside Amitabh Bachchan, creating some iconic moments in Hindi cinema.
Between 1966 and 1971, two major actors entered the scene, and their pairing gave birth to several successful films. These were the legendary Vinod Khanna, who was once in awe of Amrita Singh, and Amitabh Bachchan.
On an Instagram account dedicated to Vinod Khanna, an old interview revealed that he himself believed his only true competition in the industry was Amitabh Bachchan. He even claimed that the films they worked on together wouldn’t have been possible without him.
Vinod Khanna’s acting was admired by actresses like Reena Roy and Moushumi Chatterjee. On The Kapil Sharma Show, they were asked who had the most female fans. Reena Roy said that while Rajesh Khanna was immensely popular, she had never seen the kind of fan following Vinod Khanna had. She recalled how during a shoot in Chandigarh, girls lined up just to catch a glimpse of him. His stardom was on a whole different level.
Wherever Vinod Khanna went, all cameras would turn towards him. His female fans were so obsessed that they would crowd the set just for a chance to see him. Throughout his career, he worked with every leading actress in the industry.
Interestingly, at the peak of his career, Vinod Khanna left acting behind and went to seek spiritual guidance under Osho. But when he made his comeback to the film industry, he broke his previous image and once again captured the hearts of his fans.
