Former GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley sat down with radio host Charlamagne tha God for her SiriusXM show, Nikki Haley Live, on Monday. Haley and Charlamagne talked about the breaking news that Morning Joe hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough sat down with President-elect Donald Trump last Friday.
“Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough tore me up when I said anything about voting for Donald Trump or what I agreed with him on, even though I criticized him when I thought he was wrong. I praised him when I thought he was good. They tore me up. But the truth is, it’s not that they suddenly saw the light. It’s that they saw the ratings,” Haley said on the topic.
“That’s right. That’s right,” Charlamagne replied.
“I mean, let’s be clear. They saw the ratings tank and they realized, oh, we better get on with Donald Trump, or else we’re not going to have a show,” Haley added.
“Yeah. It’s a ratings and revenue game. What I don’t understand is, if you don’t like something that somebody’s saying, if you don’t like something that somebody’s doing, why not go talk to that person about it and challenge them right then and there? Like, that’s why I think the biggest issue is, even now when I see all of these liberals, they’re having these conversations about, “Oh, the left needs a Joe Rogan or the left needs a conservative networks like the right has.” It’s like, no, how about grow some balls and go on these platforms?” Charlamagne replied, adding:
How about go talk to Joe Rogan? How about going talk to Ben Shapiro, Candace Owens, whoever it is. How about, go on Fox News. Like, when I think about President Obama, that’s what President Obama used to do. He would go on Fox News and sit down and talk to Bill O’Reilly. When you look at what Governor Newsom is doing right now, I think it’s a smart strategy.
Like, you know, he’s not my favorite candidate, right? Or anybody that I’m looking to support at this moment. But I like his media strategy. He’s going on Fox News, he’s got his own podcast. He’s meeting people where they are. And I think that’s what a lot of these politicians aren’t doing. At least the democratic politicians, they’re not meeting people where they are.
