BENGALURU: Rangsons Aerospace (RAPL) based out of Mysuru and global firm Oversat are poised to announce a partnership at Aero India 2025, aimed at advancing satellite communication technology.
The collaboration will focus on developing advanced Luneberg lens-based multibeam antennas, enabling simultaneous tracking of multiple Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites.
A Luneberg lens-based multibeam antenna is a type of antenna that uses a Luneburg lens (a type of lens) to create multiple, distinct beams of radiation, allowing for simultaneous transmission or reception of signals in different directions.
The partnership comes at a crucial time when global players like SpaceX, OneWeb, and Amazon are rapidly deploying LEO satellite constellations. While these satellites offer improved performance over traditional Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO) systems, current ground-based infrastructure has struggled to keep pace, creating a significant bottleneck in the industry.
“Our partnership with Oversat is a step toward bridging this critical gap. With innovations like multi-beam antenna technology, we are shaping the future of Satcom (satellite communications) — one that is more resilient, efficient, and accessible for diverse applications across land, sea, and air,” Pavan Ranga, managing director, Rangsons Aerospace, said.
As per Rangson, the new technology promises to address connectivity challenges across maritime, land mobile, and aerospace applications. And, unlike existing single-satellite-tracking parabolic systems, the multibeam antennas will enable real-time connectivity across multiple satellites, significantly enhancing communication capabilities for defense, aviation, and commercial sectors.
“At Aero India 2025, Rangsons will showcase its broader portfolio, including advanced avionics, electronic warfare PODS, and airborne thermal management systems. The company’s exhibition will feature high-speed point-to-point and point-to-multipoint data links, alongside specialized Ku and Ka-band Satcom-on-the-move solutions,” the firm said.
