THE CITY OF CAPE TOWN POSTPONES CRITICAL WORK IN HELDERBERG

In a statement, the metro municipality said the outage duration is an estimation, and restoration could be delayed due to the complex nature of the infrastructure work.

“Our teams will work as quickly as possible to complete the work within the communicated time.

“Should the power not be restored within communicated timeframes, residents are advised to check the City of Cape Town’s official communication channels, including social media. Alternatively, contact the call centre before logging a service request about the planned upgrade work.”

The City of Cape Town said electricity supply could be restored at any time and customers must treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the interruption.

“Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on.”

MORE UPGRADES PLANNED

At the weekend, the City of Cape Town also confirmed its teams will be doing electricity upgrades at the Newlands Main Substation. This will affect residents in parts of Newlands and surrounding areas.

Again, the metro municipality said that supply will be interrupted due to the complex nature of the infrastructure work. In addition, the restoration time may be delayed by a few hours. However, its teams will work quickly to complete all upgrades within the communicated times.

Additionally, the City of Cape Town said in an event that power is not restored within communicated timeframes, residents are advised to check the official communication channels. These include the municipality’s social media channels, or contact the call centre before logging a service request in relation to the planned upgrade work.
