DC’s new comics this week features the debut of a new Superman series that stems from a hit anime. My Adventures With Superman #1 spins off the cartoon of the same name and brings the Man of Steel face-to-face with a terrifying monster. The debut issue, from writer Josie Campbell and artist Pablo M Collar, finds Superman homesick for the holidays. Stuck in Metropolis, the hero soon faces off with an attacking kaiju. However, the Man of Steel soon discovers his old foe, Parasite, is behind the attack. When Parasite absorbs the monster’s powers to defeat Superman, things quickly go from bad to worse.
Also debuting in DC’s new comics this week is DC Pride: A Celebration of Rachel Pollack. This celebrates the titular writer who raised the bar for strange in her iconic Doom Patrol run. This one-shot reprints Pollack’s Doom Patrol #70 which debuted DC’s first transgender hero Coagula. It also offers the long-unavailable one-shot Vertigo Visions: The Geek which paired Pollack with superstar artist Michael Allred. Finally, an original short story brings Coagula back to readers in a story about besting death. This short new story celebrates Pollack’s greatest creation comes from her longtime friend and collaborate Joe Corallo alongside artist Rye Hickman.
New comics this week also brings two new Scooby-Doo adventures to readers. Scooby-Doo! Where are you? #128 comes from writer Derek Fridolfs and artist Randy Elliot. The issue finds the Mystery Inc. gang taking a much-needed break at the lake. However, their lazy day at the river soon turns to turmoil as a multi-headed hydra emerges from the water. Also starring Scooy-Doo this week is The Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries #6. Amanda Deibert and Dario Brizuela put the Mystery Inc. gang in a sleuthing competition with a major grand prize. However, as the gang are about to complete a level, Batman arrives and foils them. Could Batman be vying for the prize money or is something else going on?

Other new comics this week include Kelly Thompson, Gavin Guidry, and Robbi Rodriguez’s Birds of Prey #10. The birds have their hands full this issue as they attempt to find Barbara in the portal that keeps changing. They soon find separating her from Barda to be more difficult, and more important, than expected. New comics this week also includes Joe Casey and Dan McDaid’s Kneel Before Zod #6. The issue finds General Zod with a new army to command. However, his soldiers plot a bloody mutiny, and Ekron’s Emerald Eye rampages on their vessel.
