Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is currently in the middle of controversy, due to a recent ad. A Hindu organization has alleged that the Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor has tarnished the image of the Maharashtra police, and is now initiating legal action against the actor.
The Hindu Janjagruti Samiti has urged the commissioner of police in Mumbai, and the chief of police in Maharashtra to file a lawsuit against Nawazuddin Siddiqui, according to the Free Press Journal.His representation of a police officer in an online gaming advertisement, according to the group, damages the Maharashtra Police’s credibility.
Asserting that Siddiqui defamed the police by endorsing a gamling game like poker while wearing a Maharashtra police uniform, their Surajya Abhiyan campaign has called for immediate action against the actor.
In a letter to the Mumbai Police Commissioner and the state’s DGP, Abhishek Murukate, the Maharashtra state coordinator of Surajya Abhiyan, requested authorities to take action against the owners of the online gaming software, Ankur Singh and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The letter alleges that the demeaning advertisement defamed the police, and have called for action under the Maharashtra Police Act of 1951, and the Maharashtra Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules of 1979.
On the personal front, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and wife Aaliya have shed their estranged status and reconclied for the sake of their kids. And this personal relationship is being extended to a professional one. “Nawazuddin and I have set aside our differences and he is now working in an AD film which I will be producing,” shares Aaliya, confirming that work starts on it soon.
She was recently in the news after it was reported that she swindled Komal Seth, refusing to return her investment of Rs 46 lakh on their venture ‘Holy Cow’. Sharing her take on it, Aaliya stated, “Komal and I had an agreement to share the earning of the movie, which the cops can clearly see in the signed document. There was no deal of me repaying the amount, rather, the agreement was for profits and loss, which both have to bear. Hence there is no case against me. Besides, I am going to clear my name by filing a defamation suit, as these ‘cheating and fraud’ allegations are impacting my image.”
In an interview with Bhasker, Komal stated that Aaliya managed to repay Rs 5 lakh after many follow-ups. However, Aaliya countered on the same, “I gave that money for the sake of her daughter. According to the agreement I don’t owe Komal anything and me paying this amount is a deed beyond our professional deal.” Being a debutant producer, Aaliya accepted that she also struggled with the film, but managed to give it a theatrical release.
When ETimes reached out to Komal for her part of the matter, she revealed filing an NCR (non-cognizable offence report) against Aaliya for an alleged threatening phone call. “The cops are trying to get in touch with her and she has been asked to report at the Powai police station. Since the time she moved to Dubai, she has not been co-operating with the cops. I have also sent a legal notice to Nawazuddin’s bungalow, regarding non-payment of dues,” shared Komal.
However, refuting the same, Aaliya stated, “These are all fake allegations, which are affecting my image. I have not given any threat or received any call from the cops. I plan to sue to news agency too about these fake reports.”
