N.J. weather: Freezing rain to hit northwestern N.J. this week, forecasters say

Forecasters have predicted freezing rain in northwestern New Jersey on Tuesday into Wednesday.

An alert about the anticipated precipitation, issued by the National Weather Service, affects parts of Morris and Warren counties and all of Sussex County. Meteorologists have warned of ice accumulation up to a tenth of an inch in the area.

A winter weather advisory was also issued for northeastern Pennsylvania, with up to a quarter inch of ice accumulation, weather experts said.

This comes after two separate winter storms last week that brought more than 6 inches of snow to parts of the state and low temperatures below 20 degrees over the weekend.

Following the storms, temperatures have gotten warmer and are expected to reach nearly 60 degrees by the end of the week. After highs in the mid-to-high 30s on Monday, highs on Tuesday and Wednesday will generally be in the low 40s before climbing into the low 50s on Thursday and the upper 50s on Friday, the weather service said.
