Atlantic City police say two people climbed out of an overturned car on Saturday after a crash and then got a lift from another motorist.
Officers responded to a call about an overturned vehicle and an electric pole down across the Black Horse Pike at 2:25 a.m. Saturday, according to a statement issued Monday by police.
Officers arrived on the scene, but the occupants of the grey Volkswagon Jetta that crashed were gone, police said.
A witness told police that the two people who had been in the overturned car got into another vehicle that stopped for them.
The force of the crash caused an electrical pole to fall, which resulted in a power outage, police said.
The large pole blocked the roadway for several hours until Atlantic City Electric responded to make repairs.
