He was pronounced dead at the scene when emergency services arrived just before midnight.

A 39-year-old man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

It’s understood almost £20,000 was offered to take down Webley, reports the Daily Record.

The slain hood taunted gangland rivals to “come and get it” before he was shot dead.

The source said: “The guy had loads of enemies from Edinburgh and Glasgow. One of them wanted him dead and offered £20,000 to do the job. There’s a long list of suspects who could’ve ordered the hit.

“He was more than aware his life was in danger and was warned by the police too. Marc didn’t care, he wasn’t scared. He knew he’d go out that way. He seemed to accept that one day someone would get the better of him.”

“There’s rumours he was due drug money and he was clearly in a feud with someone going by his social media videos in the days and weeks before he was murdered.

“He was practically goading his enemy into doing something. He was sofa surfing for weeks and had knives in each room where he was staying.”

It’s also understood cops have obtained CCTV footage which shows the face of the shooter.

Underworld figure Webley – who recently dated Lotto winner Jane Park – had previously spent time in jail for shooting a rival.

The socialite has since posted to her Instagram story, saying she has been left “absolutely devastated” by the killing.

In 2004, Webley was at the centre of a turf war with another thug who can’t be named for legal reasons.

It culminated in 2005 with him firing a gun at a rival, hitting him once. He was caged for 11 years.

After he was freed from jail, Webley was caged for six months for trying to intimidate a man into handing over £1,000 at a garage.

In 2022, he was cleared of a double murder bid after a witness claimed she could not identify him.
