Mum’s simple tip promises ‘fried eggs’ without using a pan

A mum claims to have found a speedy fried egg recipe that promises “great” eggs in less than two minutes. However, instead of reaching for the frying pan, the TikTok mum says she has another method which is particularly useful on mornings when she wants to keep her kitchen clean.

Rose Reisman is a mum, entrepreneur, chef and trainer who shares recipe videos, tips and tricks on her TikTok page @rosereisman. She is also the author of her own cookbook.

Rather than using a frying pan and the hob, Rose says her go-to is some paper plates and the microwave.

In her video, Rose explained: “Okay so you don’t want to use a skillet in the morning for some really nice fried eggs? No problem.

“Just take a couple of paper plates, crack the eggs on them, and microwave them for about a minute or a minute and a half.”

Rose cracks a couple of eggs onto a paper plate and then covers it with a second paper plate before placing it in the microwave. How long your eggs take will depend on the strength of your microwave, as well as how you like them to be cooked.

In Rose’s case, she says she likes them to be “loose”, and therefore only cooks her eggs for a minute.

“You can always do it for longer,” she added. Though the option is a bit of a speedy hack, Rose said: “Come on, let’s keep this kitchen really clean. It looks great. Nobody will ever know.”

Rose isn’t the first TikTok creator to recommend making eggs without a pan. Previously, Emily Scott, who shares her breakfast recipes and ideas to TikTok on the page @whatiateforbreakfast, says her microwave method is an easy way to ensure you get the best poached egg.

She simply cracks eggs into a small microwaveable dish or ramekin and covers it with boiling water.

Then, she pops it into the microwave for 40 to 45 seconds before draining and serving.
