A mum has shared her top tip for making extra crispy bacon – and it won’t cost you a penny.
Upgrade your bacon sandwich this weekend with this little-known trick to make your rashers crispier.
There’s nothing better than a bacon and egg sandwich on a Saturday or Sunday morning, covered in tomato or brown sauce and enjoyed with a strong coffee or cup of tea.
But getting that perfectly crispy bacon for your morning meal can be tricky. Despite our best efforts, it can sometimes end up with burnt, rubbery meat.
But one mum says you don’t need fancy grills or pricey oils to get perfect bacon. Her method works every time and it’s completely free.
Donna Urso, who goes by Just One Donna online, swears by adding a bit of water when cooking bacon on the hob, according to The Mirror.
She says her tried-and-tested recipe works because the water controls the temperature of the bacon, allowing it to cook more evenly.
This means all the meat crisps up at the same time, instead of some parts burning while others are still soft and soggy.
She said: “The water stops the bacon from sticking to the pan, which can often happen when frying.
“As the water heats up and moves around the pan, it stops hot spots and uneven cooking.
“It is also much cleaner and seems less messy than traditional pan-frying methods.
“The water helps to keep the grease from splattering all over your stove too.”
While the cooking time will depend on the thickness of the bacon, water can actually help to speed up the cooking process too.
If you have more time to cook the meat, it can also be done in the oven or under the grill for similar results.
