After teasing the Motorola Edge 50, the company has officially announced that the phone will launch in India next month. As per the company, it will be the world’s slimmest MIL-810 military-grade phone. On the other hand, the upcoming phone’s Flipkart listing also has all the key specifications. Motorola Edge 50 India launch date, availability
The Motorola Edge 50 is all set to be launched in India on August 1st and will be available on Flipkart and the company’s online store post-launch.
Like the recent leak, Motorola has revealed the Edge 50 will be available in three colour options. The Jungle Green and Pantone Peach Fuzz colours will come with a vegan leather back, and the Koala Grey variant will feature a vegan suede back.
Motorola Edge 50 to be a rugged smartphone
The major highlight of the Motorola Edge 50 is that it is claimed to be the world’s slimmest smartphone with the rugged MIL-810H certification.
With this, the upcoming Motorola smartphone will be able to withstand extremely high or low temperatures, shock, vibration, pressure, humidity, dust and salt fog. Notably, this will be a first for the Motorola Edge series phone.
This certification has been seen on phones like the Motorola ThinkPhone or Nokia XR21. Furthermore, the Edge 50 will feature an IP68 dust and water resistance rating.
Motorola Edge 50 specifications
Based on the Flipkart listing, here are the specifications of the Motorola Edge 50.
- Display: The Motorola Edge 50 will boast a 6.67-inch 1.5K curved pOLED display and 1900 nits peak brightness with an in-display fingerprint, an upgrade from the 6.55-inch display and 1200 nits peak brightness on the Motorola Edge 40.
- Chipset: The Edge 40 will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, which we have seen on the Samsung Galaxy F55 and Honor 90. Meanwhile, the predecessor was announced with the MediaTek Dimensity 8020 SoC.
- Cameras: The smartphone will flaunt a 50MP Sony LYT-700C main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide camera with a macro option and a 10MP telephoto sensor with 30x digital zoom. On the front, the Edge 50 will include a 32MP selfie camera. Comparatively, the Edge 40 was launched with dual camera sensors – 50MP+13MP.
- Storage: There are no details regarding its RAM, but the Flipkart listing confirms the Motorola Edge 40 will offer at least 256GB of internal storage.
- OS: Through the listing, it is now known that the upcoming Motorola phone will operate on Android 14, with 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates.
- Battery, charging: The Motorola Edge 50 will house a 5,000mAh battery, which is a significant upgrade from the 4,400mAh battery on the Edge 40. However, the company will retain the 68W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging.
