Most ‘depressing’ Scottish towns named on grim list of ‘soul crushing’ places to live

TWO of Scotland’s cities have been shortlisted as some of the most “soul-destroying” places to live in the UK.

Locals who live in “boring” and “bland” places have been asked to submit hometowns to site iLiveHere.com.

Eleven Scottish places have made the calamitous cut including Auld Reekie which regularly features in more positive round ups.

Another surprise choice is the scenic Perthshire town of Dunkeld which was named Scotland’s “best place to live” last year.

Other Scots places are Aberdeen, Alloa, Annan, East Kilbride, Gretna, Leven, Lossiemouth, Newton Stewart and Paisley.

The annual poll previously voted for the “worst” place in the UK but it’s been changed to most depressing this year.

Organisers iLiveHere said: “Bland, Boring, Soul destroying mediocrity with a gaping cultural void.

“This is what our new poll is about.

“This year we are ditching the usual suspects to focus on those towns throughout this septic isle that give you an almost-terminal case of ennui.

“The towns where you just exist rather than live.”

At Hogmanay 50,000 revellers descended on the capital for its world famous New Year party.

In 2022 Time Out magazine named Edinburgh the best place to live in the world.
