Morrisons has released its new Christmas menu for adults and children to enjoy in its cafes.
Promising a “Brussels sprout-free zone” for youngsters, the children’s Christmas menu consists of turkey, crispy roast potatoes, a pig in blanket, gravy and peas. One reporter tried it and you can read her verdict here — she was not impressed with two things on the plate!
Chris Strong, Senior Café Buying Manager at Morrisons, said: “Brussels sprouts have long been one of the most divisive vegetables and talking points at the Christmas table.
“Whilst we can’t get enough of the humble sprout here at Morrisons, we know that kids aren’t always the biggest fans, so we’re declaring our children’s dinner plate a Brussels sprout-free zone.”
The children’s Christmas meal also comes with a drink, adding up to £3.95 in total. If an adult enjoys a meal at Morrisons cafe that is more than £5, then one kid’s meal can be free. Meals included in the Kids Eat Free initiative include any over £5 from The Breakfasts, The Classics or The Chippy.
An adult Christmas meal, priced at £8.50, includes turkey slices, pigs in blankets, Yorkshire pudding, sage and onion stuffing balls, roast carrots, parsnips, roast potatoes and mash.
Not only that, the filling plate has cauliflower cheese, cranberry sauce, gravy and Brussels sprouts. Adult vegetarian and vegan Christmas meals are also available at Morrisons cafes for £8.50.
The Christmas menu also features classic starters such as Prawn Cocktail (£4.50), or Tomato and Basil Soup (£3.50).
For desserts, there’s traditional Christmas Pudding, a Hot Caramel Apple Pie, or Hot Chocolate Fudge Cake for £3.50 each.
People who aren’t looking for a wholesome meal can still fill up on the new winter cakes range to enjoy with a hot drink.
Winter treats include a Chocolate and Orange Muffin (£2.50), a Cherry Meringue Pie (£3.00), or a Caramel Apple Crumble Pie served with either custard or cream (£3.50).
Chris Strong at Morrisons said: “We hope this spreads Christmas cheer to every member of the family who joins us in our cafés.”
