OAKLAND, Calif. — The Tigers blew a two-run lead to the Orioles in the ninth inning Saturday afternoon at Oriole Park and would have had a walk-off loss if rookie shortstop Trey Sweeney hadn’t saved the game by making a great catch of a popup in shallow left field with the winning run on third.
In extra innings, the Tigers scored two in the 10th, then put away the Orioles for a 6-4 victory to get to within a half-game of the Twins for the last AL wild card.
