The car offers a range of 462km on a single charge (WLTP cycle) and can be rapidly charged from 10 to 80 percent in under 30 minutes.
Mini has launched the new Countryman Electric in India at a starting price of Rs 54.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
Unlike the global market, which offers both petrol and electric versions, India will only get the electric model for now. The Countryman Electric is based on the same platform as the BMW iX1, making it a direct competitor.
The new Countryman boasts a sleek and minimalistic design, evolving from its previous models. It’s 60mm taller and 130mm longer than before, providing more space and presence. Key design features include an octagonal grille, bezel-less headlamps, and new tail lamps. The bumpers are highlighted with black plastic cladding and contrasting trims, while the dual-tone paint gives a floating roof effect. You can choose wheel sizes between 17 and 19 inches.
Inside, the Countryman Electric mirrors the minimalist style of the Cooper S. The dashboard features a 9.4-inch touchscreen surrounded by four vertical AC vents. There’s no instrument cluster behind the steering wheel; instead, the center console is streamlined with a single toggle switch band for key functions. Most settings, including HVAC, are controlled via the touchscreen.
The larger dimensions provide more legroom and a bigger center console with larger cupholders. The Countryman is the first Mini to offer Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including semi-autonomous driving up to 60kph. Other features include electrically adjustable front seats, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and traction control. The interior is leather-free, aligning with Mini’s sustainable approach.
The Countryman Electric is powered by a 66.4kWh battery pack, shared with the BMW iX1. It has a single motor, front-wheel drive setup, producing 204hp and 250Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 8.6 seconds, with a top speed of 170kph. Although a more powerful 313hp, dual-motor AWD variant exists globally, it is reserved for the BMW iX1.
The electric SUV boasts a range of 462km on a single charge (WLTP cycle). It supports rapid charging up to 130kW, charging from 10 to 80 percent in under 30 minutes.
Additionally, it comes with a 22kW AC charger that charges from 0 to 100 percent in 3 hours and 45 minutes. In India, it will compete with the BMW iX1, Mercedes-Benz EQA, Volvo XC40 Recharge, and the C40 Recharge.
