Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) facetiously ruled himself out as the running mate of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Harris is now the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee after President Joe Biden announced on Sunday he will not seek reelection. She has received a spate of endorsements from high-profile Democrats and has secured enough delegates to clinch the nomination at next month’s convention in Chicago.
Speculation now abounds as to whom Harris will choose to be her vice presidential running mate. Most of the names floated come from Rust Belt or Midwestern states. On Tuesday, MSNBC aired a graphic showing five potential candidates: North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper; Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro; Sen. Mark Kelly (AZ); Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer; and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
But there was just one small problem. The photo accompanying Walz’s name did not show the governor, but instead showed Waltz, the congressman from Florida.
“Wrong picture @MSNBC,” Waltz tweeted. “Regardless, I DECLINE!”

During a speech in Milwaukee on Tuesday, Harris blasted Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump.
“He intends to give tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations and make working families fit the bill,” she said. “They intend to end the Affordable Care Act and take us back then to a time when insurance companies had the power to deny people with preexisting conditions.”
