Who is IPS Shambhavi Mishra?
Born and raised in Jagdishpur tehsil in Amethi district in Uttar Pradesh, Shambhavi Mishra completed her primary education in her hometown and wanted to pursue a degree in Humanities, but there was no nearby school which offered a course in Arts, due to which she reluctantly picked the Science stream and passed her Class 12th exams.
After high school, Shambhavi earned a B.Tech degree and it during the third and final year of her graduation, started preparing for UPSC exams.
Bank PO to IPS
Following her graduation in 2017, Shambhavi Mishra landed a job at a bank as a PO, but within a week of starting her job, she had to appear in her first UPSC CSE. Although Shambhavi had worked hard and prepared diligently, she could not clear the tough exam in her first attempt, failing in the final or interview stage.
Dejected due to the failure, Shambhavi Mishra decided to quit her bank job but was convinced not to do so by her boss, who promised that he would provide her all possible support.
Shambhavi’s office was located 42 km away from her home, and each day, it took her over 4 hours to commute to-and-from her home to the bank. Recalling her UPSC preparation, Shambhavi said she used to employ her commute time to study, read newspapers and revise her notes.
Ultimately, Shambhavi Mishra’s hard work and dedication paid off as she cracked UPSC CSE with flying colors in 2018 with an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 199 and was allotted the IPS cadre.
However, after completing her training at the LBSNAA, and later the Police Academy in Hyderabad, Shambhavi decided to take the UPSC CSE again to better her rank, and in 2021, cracked the tough exam once again, this time with an AIR of 116.
IPS Shambhavi Mishra is currently posted as ADCP (Central) in Guwahati, Assam.
