Hailing from Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar, Ambika Raina is the daughter of a Major General. She completed her schooling in several places due to her father’s transferable job. Ambika has been academically outstanding since her childhood. After completing her schooling, she went on to study at CEPT University in Ahmedabad, where she earned her degree in architecture.
After completing her graduation, Ambika went to Switzerland for an internship, which she describes as a pivotal experience. During her time there, she received multiple job offers from prestigious companies.
However, it was during her internship that Ambika discovered her passion for civil services, prompting her to leave the job offers behind. She then returned to India to begin her preparations for the UPSC exam.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Ambika worked as a SAARTHI social worker at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad. She worked as a Junior Set Designer at Cine Excel Entertainment. By 2017, she had gained experience as an architectural intern at Landolt und Haller Architekten AG.
Ambika faced setbacks in her first two attempts, but she didn’t give up. Instead, she identified her weaknesses and focused intensely on mock tests to improve her performance. According to the media reports, she successfully cleared the UPSC examination in the third attempt.
Speaking of her UPSC rank, Ambika Raina scored 792 marks in the written examination and 193 marks in the personality test. Overall, she scored 985 marks in the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2022. Ambika is currently posted as Officer trainee, Indian Accounts and Audit Service.
