Ambika Raina’s father had served the Indian Army as Major General. He instilled discipline in her life since childhood. Due to his transferable job, Ambika attended several schools and completed her senior secondary. She pursued an architecture degree from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. 

Cracking India’s prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination is a major feat for an aspirant. A large number of aspirants appear each year with a dream of a career in civil service but only a few turned it into reality. Today, we are going to talk about a girl who hails from Jammu and Kashmir. 

Meet UPSC rank holder, Ambika Raina, who secured 164th position in 2022. 

Ambika Raina’s father had served the Indian Army as Major General. He instilled discipline in her life since childhood. Due to his transferable job, Ambika attended several schools and completed her senior secondary. She pursued an architecture degree from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. 

After completing her degree, she got an internship offer from a Switzerland-based company in Zurich. She went for the internship. She also got job offers from other companies during her internship but she rejected them all and decided to appear in the UPSC examination.

Ambika didn’t succeed in her first two attempts but cleared the examination in her third attempt by securing 164 rank. She says she learnt from her past mistakes and changed her strategy for the preparation of the examination accordingly.  Ambika stressed on solving previous years’ papers to which she dubbed as quite helpful in her preparations. 

Ambika is currently posted as Officer trainee, Indian Accounts and Audit Service.
