These star kids come from a family of superstars, unfortunately they could not succeed in their acting careers. Their father is one of the legendary names in the industry and here is what they are doing now.
Bollywood has given some of the finest actors in the world of cinema. There are even families of superstars where generations after generation follow the same path. However, some are successful some are not, but eventually everyone finds a way of their own meandering through the world. One of the most glamourous, star-studded, family in the industry are the Kapoors. Prithviraj Kapoor and his family has some of the best actors from every generation reigning Bollywood. This is the story three Kapoor kids who did try their hand in the industry but could not fare well.
Shashi Kapoor was one of the most celebrated actors from the 70s. He left an indelible mark in the industry with his contribution. He married Jennifer Kendall at a young age and had three kids – Kunal Kapoor, Karan Kapoor and Sanjana Kapoor. Shashi and Jennifer established the iconic ‘Prithvi Theatre’ in 1978 in Mumbai. The two of them used to travel for theatre groups and that’s where their love story brewed. Unfortunately Kendall passed away in 1984 due to colon cancer leaving a devastated Shashi Kapoor behind and her three kids.
Speaking of their children, all three of them pursued acting. Kunalm the eldest, made his debut in 1972 with ‘Siddhartha’. Recently, he was also featured in Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Singh is Bling.’ He has worked with Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor and others. Acting did not work out well for him and he instead started directing commercials and films.
Karan Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor and Jennifer Kendal’s second child, debuted in 1978 with Shyam Benegal’s ‘Junoon.’ He also appeared in 36 Chowringhee Lane’ and ‘The Jewel in the Crown’.Yet again, fate did not have acting in cards but it was definitely to do something with the cameras. Today, living a settled life in London, Kapoor is one of the most celebrated photographers.
Sanjana Kapoor, the youngest of the three featured in films like ‘Salaam Bombay’, ‘ 36 Chowringhee Lane’ and others. Today she has focused herself in theatre groups. In 2020, she was awarded the French honour of Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres’ (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) for her outstanding contribution to theatre.
However, cinematography and related elements run in the Kapoor blood. all three siblings are somehow connected with the industry and are doing their bit.
