Shah Rukh Khan continues to dominate the industry and always turns out to be everyone’s favourite. But who is his favourite? You could assume that the superstar would mention Kajol. Some might also guess Deepika Padukone or Anushka Sharma, who he has worked on numerous films with. You might be astounded to hear that none of these are Shah Rukh Khan’s favourite actresses.
Anupam Khair posed this query to Shah Rukh Khan during his chat show ‘Kuch Bhi Ho Ho Sakta.’ He did not name any of his co-stars, in fact, he adores someone significantly older than him. Yes, you read that right!
Shah Rukh Khan was seen blushing slightly in response to Anupam Kher’s question. He revealed that Mumtaz is his favourite. People to date are captivated by her beauty. He said, “Meri all-time favourite hai, Mumtaz ji. Mujhe bohot khubsurat lagti hai (My all-time favourite is Mumtaz ji. She is so beautiful).”
Mumtaz was born to her Iranian parents, Shadi Habib Agha and Abdul Saleem Askari, who divorced just a year after her birth. She made her acting debut in the 1952 movie ‘Sanskar’ after beginning her career as a kid performer in Hindi movies. Did you know Mumtaz made her debut in mainstream cinema with ‘Do Raaste‘ (1969), costarring Rajesh Khanna, after working in numerous B-grade films?
Mumtaz’s career was supported by the late professional wrestler, actor, and filmmaker Dara Singh, who offered her a role alongside him in Faulad. She then collaborated with the late actor on 16 more films, including Daku Mangal Singh, Sikandar-E-Azam, Rustom-E-Hind, Veer Bhimsen, and Tarzan Comes to Delhi.
Mumtaz collaborated with well-known actors of her era, including Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Dev Anand, Jeetendra, Shammi Kapoor, Dharmendra, and Shashi Kapoor, over the course of her three-decade career.
Mumtaz married businessman Mayur Madhwani in 1974. She married at 27, at the height of her career. The veteran star then quit the film industry to relocate to Mombasa and later London. Mumtaz has daughters, Tanya and Natasha.
