This actress was once a favourite choice of actors such as Anil Kapoor, Govinda and others. However, she moved to the US and quite her acting journey.
Bollywood is filled with beautiful actresses. Whether it was Sridevi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, or Deepika Padukone, the industry has seen women who have left a lasting impact on the hearts and minds of audiences. While some actresses achieve success quickly but only for a short period, others take their time and eventually reach the pinnacle of success. One such actress is someone who nailed her acting career. However, as quickly as she gained fame, she fell down the ladder of success and is now doing her best to find work in the industry. There was a time when this actress achieved immense success, but she put her entire career on the line for love and was, unfortunately, betrayed by the love of her life.
If you are wondering who we are talking about, it’s none other than Pooja Batra. There was a time when Pooja was one of India’s top supermodels and had established her acting career with Bollywood films like Virasat and Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story. She was a favourite actress for heroes such as Govinda, Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor, and Suniel Shetty. However, despite having a flourishing career in the industry, Pooja decided to follow her heart and the love of her life.
In 2002, she married USA-based Dr. Sonu Ahluwalia and left India to move to the US. The couple enjoyed a happy marriage for nine years, but eventually, their love faded, and the marriage fell apart. The couple filed for divorce, and Pooja went through an ugly divorce process. The actress once mentioned that even after getting married, she received several film offers and considered travelling between Mumbai and the US for work. Some reports claimed that Pooja wanted to make a Bollywood comeback, but her ex-husband Sonu opposed the idea. However, other reports dismissed this, suggesting that the New York-based doctor was actually looking forward to embracing fatherhood.
In 2019, Pooja found love again. She made headlines when she married actor Nawab Shah, known for his roles in Don 2, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and Escape From Taliban. In an interview, Pooja opened up about her marriage, saying, “I knew of Nawab because we were in the same profession. However, we strongly connected after being reintroduced by a mutual friend in February this year. I guess we reconnected at the right time in our lives.” She added that they were in the same emotional space and hit it off instantly.
Born on October 27, 1975, Pooja is an Indian-American actress, model, and beauty pageant titleholder. She won the title of Femina Miss India in 1993 and was crowned Femina Miss India International the same year. Pooja comes from a Punjabi background. While her father served as a Colonel in the Army, her mother, Neelam Batra, was a contestant in the 1971 Miss India pageant.
