A beloved Bollywood actress has captured the hearts of cinema lovers with her enchanting performances. Recently, her daughter and fellow actress Soha Ali Khan shared some intriguing insights about the Pataudi Palace during an interview. She explained who manages the estate and why the mansion features plaster instead of paint.

Soha revealed that her mother still plays an active role in managing the household accounts, ensuring everything runs smoothly. She mentioned that her mother meticulously keeps track of all expenses, maintaining detailed records of daily and monthly finances and carefully monitoring every single penny.

Soha Ali Khan revealed that her mother prefers whitewashing the walls of Pataudi Palace instead of painting, as it’s more cost-effective. She also mentioned that nothing new has been added to the palace in years, as its stunning architecture and intricate carvings are already a sight to behold.

Why Soha could not become a princess

Reflecting on her family history, Soha shared that her grandmother was the Begum of Bhopal, and her grandfather held the title of Nawab Pataudi. While her brother, Saif Ali Khan, was named a prince in 1970, Soha born in 1978 missed out on that royal designation since the era of the Royal Tigers had come to an end by then.

Why was Pataudi Palace built?

Soha Ali Khan shared a fascinating family story about her grandparents’ unconventional courtship. Her grandfather, determined to win over his father-in-law, constructed the magnificent Pataudi Palace to impress him, despite his initial reluctance to approve the marriage.

Interestingly, Soha revealed that her grandmother’s father harboured jealousy toward her grandfather, who was an accomplished sportsman. However, during the palace’s construction, funds dwindled, leading to a creative solution: rather than finishing the marble flooring, extensive cement work was done, with beautiful carpets layered on top to complete the look.
