When Dimple Kapadia refused to play mother-in-law’s role
In the 1995 film Kartavya, Dimple Kapadia turned down the roles of both Sanjay Kapoor’s mother and Juhi Chawla’s mother-in-law. Initially, she had agreed to the project when Divya Bharti was set to star as the lead. However, following Bharti’s tragic passing in 1993, Juhi Chawla took her place. Concerned about the minimal age difference between herself and Juhi, Dimple decided to step away from the film. The producers subsequently cast Aruna Irani in her role.
By the end of the year, Dimple Kapadia and Rajesh Khanna welcomed their first child, a daughter named Twinkle Khanna, when Dimple was just 16. She chose to step away from Bollywood to dedicate herself to her marriage and family, while Rajesh continued his acting career.
