However, the idea did not sit well with Harivansh Rai Bachchan. He put a condition that they would only go for the trip if they are married.
The couple hence, conceded to the wishes and got married within a day. He immediately called Jaya’s family and arranged everything. The couple tied a knot on June 3, 1973.
